Prism extension v1.1.3
Open NukeX in Prism
Adds Open in NukeX and Open in Nuke at the top of the right-click menu of a Nuke scene, in Prism's Scene Browser.
What it solves
Prism only has a global setting for which Nuke variant to launch (User Settings → Nuke Version). Opening one scene in NukeX means changing that setting, opening, then putting it back. The plugin puts the choice in the context menu instead, scene by scene.
Using it
Right-click a .nk scene in the Scene Browser. Both entries sit at the top of the menu. Open in NukeX launches Nuke with --nukex, Open in Nuke without it. Double-click is not changed.
- Licence flags from the Nuke Version setting are kept, an Indie or Non-Commercial workstation keeps
--indie/--nc. - Before launching, it repeats what Prism does on a double-click, lockfile check and copy to the local folder if the project uses local files.
- It recognises
.nk,.nknc,.nkple,.nukeand.nkindscenes.
Download and install
- Download the
.zip. - Extract it, right-click the
.zipthen Extract All. Opening the zip without extracting it is not enough. - Double-click
Installer.bat, then click Install.
Restart Prism completely afterwards, notification-area icon included. The plugin is copied into Prism's plugin folder (%PROGRAMDATA%\Prism2\plugins), read at startup, no configuration file is modified, and the same installer uninstalls. The archive holds no executable, only scripts, and the install window opens with the Python and the Qt that ship with Prism, hence a download of under 200 KB and no SmartScreen screen to dismiss. Windows only asks for an ordinary confirmation the first time, because the file comes from the internet, and ticking Unblock in the properties of the .zip before extracting it avoids even that. The archive also holds a LISEZ-MOI.txt and the plugin's own folder, for a manual install.
SHA-256 of the archive, to compare with Get-FileHash <file> -Algorithm SHA256.

Compatibility
| Item | Required | Tested with |
|---|---|---|
| System | Windows 10 64-bit (build 1809+) or Windows 11 | Windows 11 23H2 |
| Processor | x86-64 (Intel / AMD) | |
| Prism | Prism 2.x | Prism 2.1.2.1 |
| Nuke | Any version that accepts --nukex (Nuke 10 and above) |
Nuke 16.0v8 |
Worth knowing
- Open in NukeX needs a NukeX licence. Without one, Nuke starts in its standard version.
- Inside Prism the plugin is listed under its technical name,
OpenNukeX, because a plugin folder cannot contain spaces. - If the entries show up but Nuke does not start, the plugin found no executable. One can be forced with the
openNukeX > executablekey of the userPrism.json. - Windows on ARM is not supported.
- The installer is Windows only. The plugin itself is Python and carries what is needed for Linux and macOS, but it has not been tested there, so on those systems it is a manual install.
